Mirror Lake Watershed Management Plan II
Follow the development of the Mirror Lake Watershed Management Plan as part of the ongoing strategy to protect Mirror Lake
Creating the Mirror Lake Watershed Management Plan II is part of an ongoing strategy to restore and then protect the quality and integrity of Mirror Lake from high levels of phosphorus and other undesirable nutrients which lead to cyanobacteria toxic blooms.
A two-year process, the planning goals are to:
- assess water quality data;
- set a water quality goal for total phosphorus;
- identify and prioritize site-specific measures to reduce sediment and nutrient loading;
- recommend specific landscape management best practices;
- recommend ways to reduce pollution using both construction projects and everyday management practices; and
- develop methods for public education and outreach.
This is a collaborative effort between property owners, the MLPA, the Town of Tuftonboro, NHDES, and consultants with expertise in lake and watershed management.
