Lang Pond Road Beach, high levels of e-coli. To be retested today!

MLPA has been notified by NH DES that water sampling on Monday, July 2, 2012 at Lang Pond Road Beach showed high levels of e-coli.  NHDES advised the Tuftonboro Code Officer and he will be posting a yellow “beach hazard” sign.  The beach is tested for e-coli three times a year and this is the first out break since 2002.  Sonya Carlson, NH DES Beach Advirosy said that this can come from one swimmer, multiple users, ducks, and a variety of different causes.  I have notified Dave Ford in Wolfeboro.  I have also authorized the expense ($40.00) to have the beach retested today.  I will have the results tomorrow and will keep you advised.  If you are aware of anyone who may use the beach and may not be the recipient of this notice, please advise them.  Thank you.  Dusty Davies, President, MLPA

Bear sightings!

Bear sightings around Mirror Lake are becoming more common. NH Fish and Game advises taking down bird feeders; firmly securing trash containers; thoroughly cleaning grills; and not leaving food of any kind in cars, sheds, decks etc. Keep doors and windows locked at night and when you leave the house. Bears will avoid ammonia soaked rags and loud noises such as clanging pots and pans, airhorns, yelling, clapping and such.
