MLPA actions recognized – “Hartford Courant”

In a recent July 12, 2012 issue of the “Hartford Courant”, Professor Robert Thorson recognized the positive activities of both the NHDES and MLPA.

Professor Thorson, a Mirror Lake summer visitor, suggested that the State of Connecticut follow the lead of the proactive actions of both NHDES and MLPA.

Our efforts continue to enhance the quality of our beautiful lake as well as our quality of life.  Thank you Professor Thorson for the acknowledgement, although the reference to “aging population” still stings a little.

Bear sightings!

Bear sightings around Mirror Lake are becoming more common. NH Fish and Game advises taking down bird feeders; firmly securing trash containers; thoroughly cleaning grills; and not leaving food of any kind in cars, sheds, decks etc. Keep doors and windows locked at night and when you leave the house. Bears will avoid ammonia soaked rags and loud noises such as clanging pots and pans, airhorns, yelling, clapping and such.
